Statement

 

I am interested in the female figure from the point of view of the female gaze. Figurative collage and symbolism are my preferred means of capture. Inspired by the 19th and early 20th century symbolists and surrealists: Munch, Klimt, Dali, Magritte and Chagal. As well as figurative artists of the same epoch; Schiele and his exquisite line. I often create my line using my grandmother's wool, reinforcing my connection with two figurines before me. Other collage materials include cheese paper, sheet music, wallpaper, napkins and confectionary wrappers. 

 

Throughout history, the female figure has traditionally been represented from the male gaze.
